Standardizing Vegetative Propagation as a Tool for Polycross Mating of Ascending Purple Milkvetch (Astragalus adsurgens Pall.)
نویسندگان
چکیده
This article highlights the efficacy of plant growth regulators and nutrient solutions on root development and survival of ascending purple milkvetch (APMV) cuttings. Three auxin-like growth regulators and Hoagland solutions were used as root inducing agents. The cuttings were planted in sand medium that allowed evaluation of rooting effectiveness. The study showed that up to 100% establishment of APMV cuttings can be achieved with the application of halfstrength modified Hoagland (MHL) solution and plant growth regulators such as indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), 1-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) and indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) at 100mg L strength. To the best knowledge of the authors, this is first time documentation of the vegetative propagation of APMV.

Cattle 's grazing of the locoweed Wahweap milkvetch (Astragalus lentiginosus var. wabweapensis) was evaluated on desert and foothill winter range during the winter of 1986 to 1987. Dry, dead stalks of Wahweap milkvetch that had grown in 1985 and 1986 made up 15% of cattle diets overall, and 24% of diets when cattle grazed gravelly benches where it was abundant. Nutrit ional quality of Wahweap m...

Cicer milkvetch (Astragalus cicer L.) is a perennial legume used as a pasture or rangeland plant for ruminants. A study was undertaken to determine whether reported variations in its ruminal digestibility may be related to the presence of an antinutritive material. In vitro fermentation of neutral detergent fiber (NDF) of cicer milkvetch by mixed rumen microflora was poorer than was the ferment...

Effects of temperatures on the host-parasite relationships were studied for three legume species and four populations of root-knot nematodes from the western United States. The nematode populations were Meloidogyne hapla from California (MHCA), Utah (MHUT), and Wyoming (MHWY), and a population of M. chitwoodi from Utah (MCUT). The legumes were milkvetch (Astragalus cicer), alfalfa (Medicago sat...
